Knarr allows you to set up multi-factor authentication, or MFA, as an added layer of security for your Knarr account. Enabling this feature will cause Knarr to text you whenever you attempt to log in, prompting you to enter the 6-digit code before logging into the platform. You can save your common browser so you're only prompted when logging into a new machine (which saves a cookie, so be aware that if you have cookies turned off, it won't save).
Privacy note: we do not use your phone number for any reason other than to send you login codes. We will never share or sell your phone number. In fact, your phone number is not even visible to any Knarr employee, as it is stored within our authentication provider, Auth0.
When you enroll in MFA, you will get an email from firstname.lastname@example.org (check your spam folder if you don't see it) that looks like the below image. Click the big blue button to proceed.
You'll be taken to a page that looks similar to the login page but instead of your password asks you for your phone number:
Type in your phone number and Knarr will text you a 6-digit code from the phone number 202-816-5320 (in case you want to add it to your contacts).
Once you receive the code, type it in, and press enter, you will be provided a backup code in case you change phone numbers or lose access to your phone. Make sure to record this code somewhere secure (not on your desktop as "secret backup code.txt").
That's it, you're done! You can close this window and you're all set for MFA.
Changing or Resetting MFA
If you need your MFA reset please email email@example.com and we will reset it for you manually, however we will have to go through a series of verification tests to ensure you are who you say you are, like IP verification, email verification, having you send us a photo of your driver's license; it's a whole process. We take data and privacy extremely seriously, so we want to make sure that there is virtually no possibility that someone else can access your account.
To change your phone number, go into your account settings and click "Remove enrollment"
